Paul's Songs

Afternoon Soccermax fans! There's a debate raging in Soccermax towers and we need your help. Those of you who listened to Episode 3 will have heard Paul's Greek Oddity song...........................................yes that was our reaction too.

Well guess what? He's done another! The big question is, do we put it in Episode 4, or was Greek Oddity so bad he should have his recording equipment taken off him now?

Vote yes or no to a new Paul song, NOW!

Most Hated XI

Hello all, we've had loads of correspondence so far but please keep it coming. Some, not all, but some has been fantastic. We have decided that some would be better as blog posts because we could on all day about it and are better as an open discussion. With that in mind, our first midweek topic, suggested by Russell Carr is name your most hated XI, over you folks.......

Episode 2 Coming Soon

Dear podfans,

Thank you to all the contributions and feedback we've had around episode one of Soccermax. It's been a busy week here a Soccermax HQ where the four of us live. Sifting through the mountains of fan mail has proved challenging, Paul has given up his real job to become a full time podcaster and sort through the backlog.

Episode two is being recorded tomorrow afternoon and should be with you Monday evening. We might even try to be funny and not talk over each other.

I can confirm that there will be at least two new jingles. Your appetites now whetted, we're going to spend some quality time with Pebbles the Soccermax cat who lives with us in the towers.

Just to add that the 4th member of the podquad is available to follow @whitto7, although his lack of Internet access & £10 Tesco mobile may inhibit his posts. He can do something with javascripts though, apparently. The podcast itself is also available to follow on Twitter @soccermaxpod and hopefully a test pod should be available to download soon via ITunes thanks to @NeilTurton and a cat.

Debate #1

Hello fellow Soccermaxers,

And so, we are a mere few weeks away from the first official Soccermax podcast.

For those of you who can't wait, lets have an intellectual football debate..........

So who was the best, Earl Barrett - Adrian Mutu - Garry Birtles.

England International, League Cup Winner and erm....Chester City Stalwart Earl Barrett was arguably the pre-curser for the modern day 'Cafu' style right back. Pacey, attack-minded and unable to carry out the most basic of defensive duties.
Barrett's career highlight came in 1994 League Cup Final beating Man Utd 3-1 at Wembley. However, the following season saw Barrett's career take a nose dive - signing for Everton for an undisclosed fee.

On joining Chelsea in 2004, Adrian Mutu boasted the unique combination of talent, experience and youth - a sure fire winner and a snip at just £15 mill.
After a promising start, Mutu decided he was a little bored with success, wealth and undoubted ability and promptly started rolling up his numerous £50 notes and using them for recreational purposes instead.
And so it transpired, Mutu, following a lengthy legal process, was banned from football and ordered to pay a nose-tingling £17 million in damages to Chelsea(now his former in employer) for breach of contract.
Despite his misgivings, Mutu enjoyed an incredibly successful international career scoring 32 goals in just 70 outings for Romania and appearing and scoring in their Euro 2008 campaign.
Mutu later played for Juventus and Fiorentina and continues to ply his trade at Cesena.

Since the glorification of the Champions League in recent decades Nottingham Forest's double European Cup success in '79 and '80 is often overlooked. Appearing in both finals and scoring on his club debut against Liverpool(also in the European Cup) Garry Birtles was a firm fans favourite.
Despite regularly being a leading scorer in the English top flight Birtles only managed three England caps and later joined Man Utd in a disappointing spell. Birtles later rejoined his beloved Nottingham Forest and became one of the few players to 'successfully' revert from Centre Forward to Centre Half. However, on the appointment of Brian Clough as manager Birtles was released and ended his career as a Codhead.
Without doubt Garry Birtles' outstanding contribution to the world of football was his scouse-esque permed barnett and moustache..

Let the Mass-Debating begin!
